About

I believe mid-life isn’t a crisis—it’s a quiet reckoning.

It’s the moment the noise fades, the roles shift, and we finally have space to ask: Who am I now, when I’m no longer only what I’ve done, who I’ve raised, or what I’ve carried?

As a Registered Counsellor and a woman living this season myself, I hold space for women who are unravelling, softening, and slowly becoming someone new.

Letters from Mid-Life is where that story is told—through open letters, journaling reflections, and honest moments pulled from the in-between. It’s not a place of answers, but a gentle pause. A space to rest in the uncertainty. To honour the grief and the beauty of becoming.

Through my writing and my counselling work, I help women navigate mid-life transitions with self-compassion, clarity, and emotional honesty. Whether it’s through a journal page, a quiet conversation, or a therapeutic session, this is your invitation to come home to yourself—one breath, one letter, one small step at a time.

With heart,

Shirley McAvoy
